Vivendi Increases Ownership of Ubisoft

So there has been a tight war going on between the heads of Ubisoft and the "invading force" of Vivendi, which has recently increased their stake in the games publisher/developer firm, now owning 20% of Ubisoft.

According to Vivendi, "Vivendi’s investment in Ubisoft’s business sector is part of a strategic vision of operational convergence between Vivendi’s content and platform and Ubisoft’s productions in the field of video games. Since this strategy does not require any modification to Ubisoft’s legal or financial organization, Vivendi is not contemplating any of the transactions referred to in Article 223-17, I, 6° of the AMF Règlement Général (General Regulations)"

PlayStation VR Expect Shortages

Alright, we know when PlayStation VR will be on our faces and how much it'll cost to get it there. But what you might not have thought about is, will it be readily available to buy when it launches? And according to Sony, it won't be.

Andrew House, President and CEO of all things PlayStation told CNBC that PlayStation VR will experience shortages, but that his team was geared to combat that as best they could. Apparently they have "growing confidence" that demand will far outstrip supply this fall.

One thing that was discussed in the CNBC interview was that PlayStation VR titles would range from $20 - $40, which is nice step away from the $50 - $60 that has been mainstream for the last 2 generations of games.

New Amiibo Shown Off at e3 2016, Helping to Line Nintendo's Coffers

Admit it. You've bought some. Whether you own a Wii U or 3DS, you've bought an Amiibo or two. It's okay, you're among friends, we all have. In case you'd bought them all, Nintendo showed off a few new ones coming later this year. Personally, I'm excited for the ones themed around The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which unfortunately, aren't launching until 2017. I wouldn't blame you for letting out a "wah-hah!" when you saw Wario and Waluigi were coming this November, nor would Nintendo.

Follow this link to check out the new Super Mario Amiibo releasing this year and to get close-ups of the Zelda ones launching early next year.

More Details About Pokemon Sun and Moon Discussed at e3 2016

Although Nintendo originally stated the new Zelda game would dominate their e3 presence, they did relent just beforehand, announcing that Pokemon Sun and Moon would also be making an appearance. A fitting decision, considering the series is celebrating it's 20th anniversary this year (don't forget to download Manaphy!). A few more new Pokemon were shown off in Nintendo's livestream and much discussion regarding the new, tropical region took place. Enjoy!

Nintendo Treehouse Livestreamed Hours of New Zelda at e3 2016

Nintendo let the press know a few weeks back that their e3 presence was going to be limited almost entirely to a livestream of the new Zelda game, headed for the Wii U and NX in early 2017. As Brad reported on earlier, they announced it as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Thankfully, the game looks to be the best in the series in a long time and may prove to be a breath of fresh air.

The Zelda series is unquestionably one of the most well-regarded in all of video games, although more recent entries have lost the knack for growth, with most coming off as slight improvements of the standard 3D Zelda formula. With the release of A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS in November 2013, Nintendo displayed that they were primed to revisit "set-in-stone" formulas (in that game's case, 2D Zelda tropes) and think differently about them. That mentality appears to have been carried over to development of Breath of the Wild, too.

PlayStation VR Price and Release Date Confirmed

It has been an insanely busy few days at J1ML headquarters trying to cover all the news pumping out of E2 2016. Sony announced the confirmed price and release date for PlayStation VR.

On October 13th, 2016 and for $399, you gain access to a "fixed platform" for gaming in virtual reality. This was clearly a jab at the mobile and PC offerings out there like Vive and Occulus Rift which have had rocky launches to say the least. Sony also confirmed that 50 titles will be releasing on PlayStation VR between launch and the end of the year. It's not clear if those are full standalone, new titles or if this means games will receive patches to add VR support to already released games. For example Final Fantasy XV releases September 30th, 2016, but they showed a trailer titled "Final Fantasy XV: VR Experience".

We will just have to wait and see, we have so much more content coming this week to cover all the news and announcement surrounding E3. What have you thought abou…

New Zelda Officially Named The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!!

Crash Bandicoot is Returning to PlayStation 4

It was announced during Sony's E3 2016 press conference that Sony Worldwide Studios would be partnering with Activision to remaster (or remake, depending on how you want to read into the terminology) for the PlayStation 4. As of right now there are zero announcements passed that.

What does this mean though? Essentially Shawn Layden came out on stage with a clever backdrop themed with Crash Bandicoot. Stating that the original trilogy is being remade for the PlayStation 4, "From the ground up".

There wasn't any content shown, no assets to show off, just the simple, "Hey, it's happening!" which is fine for a huge fan of Crash Bandicoot as I am. Now they did announce that Crash Bandicoot was being added to the upcoming Skylanders Imaginators game coming to all platforms this Fall.

What do you think of the news? Excited? Doubtful? Let us know in the comments below or over on our Facebook page!
