Feeling Alone? Thomas was Alone Review

The Weekly Slice A review of a Minimalist Puzzle Game By. Meatloaf
Welcome everyone to yet ANOTHER edition to The Weekly Slicewhere I, Meatloaf, am your humble guide through the world of any and all things…well cool I guess.Anyway without further delay I bring you this week’s edition.
This week I am reviewing the game “Thomas Was Alone” created by Mike bithell, and developed by both Bossa and Curve Studios. This might sound familiar to those of you if you are a PSVita, IOS, LINUX, STEAM, MAC OS, WINDOWS, or GOOGLE PLAY gamer. The game is a puzzle platform type of game where the graphics are minimalistic enough to think that a hipster was pulling all the strings, the soundtrack is very 80’s arcade (which is not really a BAD thing.) so that while your playing you get a sort of sense of nostalgia as if Tetris had a glitch in it’s system and the blocks had taken a life of their own. Finally the game has no cut scenes, but before each new character is introduced there are little tid-bits of info…

Deliberating The Dilemma of Delays In The Video Game Industry

We are just under 2 weeks away from E3 2014!  The most exciting time of the year for video game enthusiasts all across the globe.  You can expect huge announcements of all sorts, ranging from shiny new hardware, pulse pounding price drops, earth shaking partnerships, trailer montages, giant enemy crabs...hey Ihadto...oh ya, and NEW GAMES are revealed! Woooo, that's what we all watching for right?  We want our minds to be blown by some new game we never saw coming.  We want to see that franchise we so dearly loved that we thought was all but long gone to surprise us with a comeback.  We want to see that sequel finally be revealed and announced that we all knew was coming sooner or later.  Sure, all those things happen.  But I'm here to tell you, don't plan on playing 70% of those games that blow your mind on their surprise reveal come June 9th...not for at least a year and half or two.

Just this past week we had breaking news regarding delays on a couple of high profile ga…

New Video Game Releases This Week (May 25-May31)

Hello everyone!  We are in for a massive week in the form of AAA summer blockbuster games.  The massively hyped Watch Dogs is finally releasing this week from Ubisoft.  This game initially garnered an immense amount of hype out of it's E3 2012 trailer debut, when it literally got the best of show by several journalist and gaming websites for surprising the world with a fantastic trailer. Watch Dogs was of course previously delayed with less than a month until its original release date, making several people angry.  However, it is finally here, I hope the delay was worth it.  Has the hype ran thin and now expectations are too high?  You can find out yourself when it launches early this week.

Also, Nintendo brings one of their heavy hitters to the table this week as Mario Kart 8 comes drifting onto store shelves.  I have grown up with this series and I really want to get my hands on this one.  This release is massively important for …

Little Bit About Myself

Greetings!  My name is Brad VanCleave and I am a new writer for J1ML!  For anyone who checks the site regularly you know I have posted a few reviews already (or at least I hope you do!).  Since I am new, however, it just seems reasonable to give a little bit of background about myself before going much farther.  For starters I need to explain how I started blogging on this wonderful site.  It started with my buddy Josh Gore meeting Tabor and Tridrakious at Super Bitcon not long ago.  After talking with Josh and learning just how ambitious and passionate these guys were I knew I had to get involved.  I started chatting with the guys and before long I was writing a test article that would later become my first article on the site (for anyone interested here is thelink)!
I have been an avid gamer for many years; since the first time I played Super Mario 64 actually, and do my best to stay up to date with the latest and greatest in the industry.  The last several years have not been easy …
